Charu Asopa has shared a video clarifying that she is not in a financial crisis
Sushmita Sen’s former sister-in-law and television actress Charu Asopa has shared a video clarifying that she is not in a financial crisis or living in ‘extreme poverty’. She said that a video in which she was seen selling salwar suits went viral on social media, and was misunderstood by many. People assumed that she was selling clothes out of financial desperation and had left Mumbai due to a crisis. However, Charu said that her move to Bikaner was a personal choice and as a mother, her priorities have shifted, which is why she chose to move. She said that she can travel to Mumbai for work whenever needed, and while she won’t be doing daily soaps, she hasn’t quit acting. Yesterday, her ex-husband Rajeev Sen claimed that Charu has no financial crunch, and said that she has been exploring real estate in Bikaner.
In her latest vlog on YouTube, Charu Asopa was seen heading to Mumbai with her daughter Ziana to wrap up their stuff before moving to Bikaner. She said that she hopes the next time she returns to Mumbai, she has enough money to buy a house in this city. Charu then addressed the viral suit-selling video, and said, “Pichle 3-4 dino se main dekh rahi hu maine ek video daala tha jismein mere cotton suits hain, wo showcase kar rahi thi. Aur uss video ko sabne itna viral kar diya. Uske upar logon ne likh diya ki ‘bechari Charu, suits bechkar apna guzaara kar rahi hai aur Mumbai chhodke jaa rahi hai kyunki ab uske paas yaha rehne ke liye paise nahi bache or she is in financial crisis.’ (For the past 3-4 days, a video I posted – in which I was showcasing some of my cotton suits – has gone viral. And people wrote things like, ‘Poor Charu, she’s selling suits to make ends meet and is leaving Mumbai because she’s in a financial crisis’).”
Charu Asopa Says She Isn’t Living In Extreme Poverty, As Portrayed
She clarified that people were portraying as of she was living in extreme poverty, however, that wasn’t the case. “Aisa kuchh nahi hai ki bohot gareebi mein mera jeevan yaapan ho raha tha aur jis tarah aap logon ne portray kiya hai. Ek maa hone ke naate mera sirf focus change hua hai. (It’s not like I was living in extreme poverty, the way people are portraying it. As a mother, my focus has simply shifted),” she explained.
She further added that if she gets an acting assignment, she can always travel to Mumbai from Bikaner, finish her work, and return to her daughter. She said that she realized there is no need to live in Mumbai all the time. “And I don’t want to do daily soaps. I want to do ads, web series, or short-term projects. I can come to Mumbai, finish the work, and go back to my daughter,” she said.
Charu Asopa Clarifies She Hasn’t Quit Acting
She said that she doesn’t want to do daily soaps, since her daughter Ziana is very young and she cannot leave her with nannies while she shoots. However, she clarified that she hasn’t quit acting. “I can never leave acting. I’m only leaving this city because my priorities have changed. My focus has shifted. Nothing is more important to me than my daughter,” said Charu.
She then added that her YouTube videos, business and other things can all be done from her home in Bikaner, so there is no point in having to pay rent in Mumbai. Reacting to Rajeev Sen’s claims of her exploring real estate in Bikaner, she said that she plans to buy a property in Bikaner on loan. According to her, even a part of what she currently spends on living expenses in Mumbai can help cover the EMI and help her own a property there.
Charu Asopa and Rajeev Sen tied the knot in 2019 and welcomed their baby girl Ziana in 2021. The couple finalised their divorce in 2023.
