With War 2 shaping up to be one of the most anticipated action spectacles of 2025, the buzz around Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s on-screen collaboration is at an all-time high. While fans are counting down the days to see the South superstar and the Bollywood Greek God lock horns—or team up—in Yash Raj Films’ spy-universe, the camaraderie between the two actors off-screen is already winning hearts.
At a recent fan meet-and-greet in Chicago, Hrithik Roshan offered some delightful insights into the making of War 2. A number of fan-shot videos from the event have been circulating online, one of which captures the Fighter star gushing over his co-star Jr NTR. While it’s no secret that Jr NTR is a powerhouse performer with an enormous fan base, Hrithik revealed a lesser-known side of the Devara actor—his impressive culinary skills.
“I’ve to say the best part of doing War 2 was working with Jr NTR… OMG! He is absolutely amazing,” Hrithik told the crowd. “Besides being an amazing actor and amazing teammate, you know, he is exceptional at cooking. He makes the best food in the world. And me being a foodie, we got along like a house on fire!”
Fans were thrilled to hear about this unexpected bond between the two stars—one rooted in food, friendship, and mutual respect. Hrithik’s spontaneous admiration added a warm, human touch to the high-octane project that’s otherwise shrouded in secrecy and action-heavy anticipation.
The actor didn’t stop there. He also promised that War 2 would not just meet expectations, but exceed them. “I usually don’t say things like this, but I am genuinely proud of this film. While fans are eager to see the action-packed drama unfold on the big screen, the film’s journey is still in progress. According to a report by Mid-day, parts of the film are yet to be shot. Hrithik, who is recovering from an injury, is expected to resume shooting towards the end of April once he gets clearance from his doctors. In the meantime, director Ayan Mukerji—best known for helming Wake Up Sid and Brahmāstra—has reportedly completed a patch shoot near Mumbai’s Mazgaon Docks with the rest of the cast.
Set within the expansive spy universe created by YRF and spearheaded by producer Aditya Chopra, War 2 marks the sixth installment in the franchise. It follows the massive success of War (2019), which starred Hrithik and Tiger Shroff, and cemented itself as one of the biggest Bollywood hits of its time. The sequel not only promises high-stakes drama and breathtaking action sequences, but also the thrilling prospect of seeing two Indian megastars—Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR—share screen space for the first time.
Also joining the cast is Kiara Advani, who plays a pivotal role in the narrative. With a blend of star power, visual spectacle, and cinematic scale, War 2 is expected to be a game-changer in India’s action film landscape.
The film is slated for a grand theatrical release on August 14, 2025, just ahead of India’s Independence Day—a date often reserved for blockbuster spectacles.
