According to police officials, the sender had threatened to blow up the actor’s car and assault him at his residence.

Mumbai police on Monday issued a notice to a man from Gujarat’s Vadodara in connection with a death threat sent to Bollywood actor Salman Khan. The threat message was received on the Worli Traffic Control Room’s WhatsApp number a day ago.

In a statement, the police said that during their investigation, they traced the number to a 26-year-old man from a village near Vadodara, and a summons has been issued for him to appear for questioning in Mumbai within the next 2-3 days.

The police also stated that the suspect is mentally unwell and has been undergoing treatment. “It is also being claimed that the man is mentally unstable and is under treatment. The matter is being investigated by Worli Police,” the statement added.

Further details about the man are yet to be revealed, as the police continue to examine all possible angles in the investigation.

According to police officials, the sender had threatened to blow up Khan’s car and assault him at his residence. The threat prompted Worli Police Station to register a case under Section 351(2)(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for criminal intimidation against an unidentified person.

Meanwhile, the police have also tightened security outside Khan’s residence in Bandra and intensified patrolling in the area.

Slew Of Threat Messages

Bollywood actor Salman Khan has faced multiple death threats over the years, many of which have been linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The group is believed to be targeting the actor over his alleged involvement in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case.

While Lawrence Bishnoi is currently lodged in Sabarmati Central Jail, Ahmedabad, facing charges including attempted murder and extortion, his associates allegedly fired shots outside Khan’s Bandra home in April last year.

Just weeks after the shooting, Navi Mumbai Police had claimed to have uncovered a plot by the gang to attack Khan during one of his visits to his Panvel farmhouse, located on the outskirts of Mumbai.
