A viral video capturing a lighthearted moment between MS Dhoni and a fan has surfaced, showing the former Indian captain playfully “scolding” the individual for requesting a second autograph. The interaction, which has quickly spread across social media, showcases Dhoni’s characteristic wit and engaging relationship with his admirers.
In the video, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) stand-in captain is seen signing autographs for his fans. While acknowledging requests, he said: “I am coming that side. I will come. That’s your second autograph.”
MS Dhoni is currently captaining CSK as regular skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out of the IPL due to an elbow injury.
Dhoni had previously captained CSK from 2008 till 2023 and won five IPL titles. He handed over the captaincy to Gaikwad ahead of the 2024 season.
Gaikwad sustained the blow when he was hit by a short ball from Jofra Archer on March 30, and since then, he has played two games.
Who’s that IPL player?
CSK had experienced a tough phase in the IPL, having lost five games in a row, including an unprecedented three at Chepauk, their proverbial fortress. They finally managed to end their losing streak with a five-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants.
“It’s good to win a game. When you play a tournament like this, you want to win games. Unfortunately, the [earlier] matches didn’t go our way for whatever reasons. There can be lots of reasons. It’s good to have a win on our side,” Dhoni had said after the win.

“Gives confidence to the whole team and helps us improve in areas we want to improve. We all knew that when it doesn’t come your way in cricket, God makes it very tough, and it was a tough game. If you see the powerplay, whether it was the combination or the conditions, we were struggling with the ball. And then we weren’t able to get the start we wanted as a batting unit,” he added.
CSK, currently placed at the bottom of the table, will lock horns against Mumbai Indians on Sunday at the Wankhede Stadium.
