Quick commerce platforms have always come up with some of the most brilliant marketing ideas, with social media platforms now acting as a beacon to connect with customers. In line with the current appraisal season, Zepto is making clever use of humour and has already hit the right note on the internet. Harshita, an X user, shared a screenshot from the Zepto search page, showing hilariously unexpected results upon searching for “appraisals.”
In her post, Harshita showed how she searched for an appraisal on Zepto, only to find results for variants of peanuts, including masala peanuts, party mix, and salted peanuts. “Brands are so good at moment marketing. When you search “appraisal” on Zepto, you find peanuts! That’s crazy, no???”
Clarifying that it was not a paid post, Harshita noted that it was her curiosity that helped her make the discovery. The playful jab at the ongoing appraisal season, especially when corporate employees have been ranting about limited increments, quickly went viral on the internet. Many took to the comment section and played along, with others sharing their own experiences with the search. One wrote, “That’s dope,” while another added, “It’s appraisal season, and the Zepto team has cooked! So if you search for appraisal on Zepto, it’ll show you peanuts. Such a creative marketing strategy; I hope most of the people can find it.”
I searched for “appraisal” on instamart and it showed peanuts
Zepto is not the only brand in the stunt, as Swiggy Instamart and Blinkit have also joined in, showing similar peanut-related results and even kitchen utensils when searching for appraisal. With the search results now trending on social media, none of the apps have confirmed whether it was a coordinated marketing stunt or just proper timing. This is not the first time that Zepto’s marketing trick has gone viral. Previously, the q-commerce platform took on the “Prashant-Croissant” trend, with Swiggy and Blinkit also cashing in on the gag.
