Unidentified miscreants opened fire at a hospital in Bihar’s Patna on Thursday morning. One person, identified as Chandan, out on parole, was injured in the incident, which happened at Paras HMRI Patna.

According to the details, the attackers were identified as those working as builders, associated with real estate, in the area.

It was also known that the attackers had been involved in crime-related activities earlier.

There were no reports of any injuries to other people at the hospital.

The police were called, and as investigations progressed, they identified the injured person as Chandan Mishra, a resident of Buxar district.

Police said that Chandan had been behind bars on murder charges, but was out on parole to get himself treated for health issues.

While he was at the hospital, five criminals, armed with pistols, arrived at the hospital and fired shots.

Commenting on the incident, Patna SSP Kartikeya K Sharma said, “A criminal, named Chandan Mishra, a resident of Buxar district, against whom dozens of cases of murder are registered, was transferred from Buxar to Bhagalpur jail.”

“Chandan was on parole and admitted to Paras Hospital for treatment. The rival gang shot him,” the SSP said.

“He is undergoing treatment, and with the help of the Buxar Police, we are identifying the members of the rival gang. We have the photographs of the shooters,” he added.

On July 14, an arrested criminal was injured in a police firing in Patna’s Ranitalab area following an alleged attempt to escape custody.

According to a statement by the Patna Police, the incident occurred around 9.30 pm on Sunday, when Suraj Kumar, a criminal arrested for his alleged involvement in a recent firing incident and several other cases, was being taken in a police vehicle to help locate his associates.

“Kumar managed to escape from police custody and started running. Despite repeated requests by security personnel, he did not stop,” the statement mentioned.

“As a result, officers resorted to controlled firing, during which Kumar sustained a bullet injury to his leg. He was immediately overpowered and taken into custody,” it added.
