Ariana Grande Thank U Next by Jérôme Epinette

From the 2019 archives: Every time I try an Ariana Grande fragrance, the sales assistant has tried to put me off.
I find this bizarre since I will wear everything from Impulse to Guerlain and everything in between. For instance, when I tried fluffy ball perfume Ariana Grande Ari, last year, the sales assistant said “That’s targeted at 17-year olds. Are you sure you want to try it?” This 48-year-old was unamused and sprayed away (pretty good). The next occasion was when I went into The Fragrance Shop and asked to be sprayed with Ariana Grande Cloud. “What do you normally wear?” she asked. “Everything. Everything.” I replied. “Well you might not like this. Are you sure you want it on skin?” she added. Reader, I loved it!
Today I had less hassle as I practically had a shower under the sample of Thank U Next in Superdrug that was blissfully unattended. Verdict? Read on, chums.

Ariana Grande Thank U Next was to me, initially a wonderful single faceted tuberose- or was it? As you know tuberose wears many disguises and one of them is coconut, so when this beautiful cloud of creamy dense coconut floated up from my elderly wrist, I thought “Hooray! Tuberose is back in fashion!”. I was premature however, since this is really just a coconut note and didn’t step further into the tuberose spectrum. So what we have is a fabulous coconut fragrance with a little temptation of almondy marzipan (actually macaron), fresh raspberries tumbled on the side and rose petals scattered like a high end dessert.

The ending is all of the above, softened into a sort of silky whipped pink mousse and softened with a fluttery wisp of white musk. Lasting power is pretty good- four hours so far and still there, though not filling the room. The bottle- a pink heart breaking in two, is fabulously kitsch and collectable.
I like this because it makes think I’m wearing tuberose, so I’m giving this gorgeous fragrance 10/10 for good looks, beauty and deliciousness. By the way, if you ever meet anyone who won’t wear celebrity perfumes, tell them this one was created by the legendary Jérôme Epinette, who has worked on Byredo, Floral Street, Anna Sui, Jovoy and Atelier Cologne.
Where to Buy It
Thank U Next is widely available and prices start at a budget friendly £34.75 for 50ml. It really is suitable for any age, even elderly fifty-somethings like me.
