Akshay Kumar, who is gearing up for Kesari Chapter 2, has finally reacted to Jaya Bachchan’s recent remark on the 2017 release Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. She had publicly questioned the film’s title and called it a “flop” despite its commercial success. Well, today, during a promotional event, Akshay Kumar said that anyone who criticizes the film is ‘bewakoof’.
Reddit shared the video on its thread. Akshay Kumar is seen answering the question and said, “Criticising, mujhe nahi lagta hai kisi ne criticise kiya hai woh filmon ko. Koi bewakoof hi hoga jo criticise karega jaisi film banayi hai maine, Pad Man banayi hai. Aap hi bata dijiye, jaise Toilet: Ek Prem Katha hai, Airlift hai, Kesari 1 banayi thi, Kesari 2 hai. Aisi bohot saari filmein hain, toh koi bewakoof hi hoga jo iss filmon ko criticise karega. Aur maine apne dil se banayi hai. Aur ek film hai jo ki logo ko bohot saari cheezein batati hai, samjhati hai, koi bhi film ho. Toh mujhe nahi lagta kisi ne criticise kiya hai.” He further added, “Ab agar unhone ne kaha hai toh fir sahi hoga. Agar Toilet: Ek Pren Katha film banake maine koi galat kaam kiya toh fir agar vo keh rahe honge toh sahi hoga.”

Speaking at the India TV conclave Jaya Bachchan admitted that she had reservations about watching the movie. “Just look at the title of the film; I would never go to watch a film with such a name. Yeh koi naam hai? Is that really a name?” Jaya Bachchan said. She then asked the audience if they’d be fine with watching a film with such a title. When a few people raised their hands, the actress added, “Among so many people, hardly four people want to watch the film; it’s very sad. Yeh toh flop hai (It is a flop).”
Released in 2017, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha revolves around Keshav who falls in love with Jaya (Bhumi Pednekar) and gets married to her. When she complains about no toilet in their house, Keshav decides to get one contracted. However, he soon realises that it could not have been an easy task, as he faces opposition from his own family and the entire village on religious grounds.
Talking about Kesari Chapter 2, the film also stars Ananya Panday and R Madhavan. It is releasing on April 18. Next, Akshay Kumar will be seen in Prabhas’ Kannappa.
