Hey there Posse Crew. Atelier des Ors is one of my favourite brands that I’m yet to purchase a full bottle of. There have been samples, decants aplenty and I want so many. The problem is choosing. A couple of months ago I also reviewed their Blue Madeleine. Yes, it’s now on the endless lists of want. You might remember I did a big Sample Set GiveAway of Atelier des Ors back in 2017 and this is what I said about Aube Rubis.

“I keep trying to pin Aube Rubis down to a pithy 3 sentence paragraph but it’s too beautiful to do that to. I’ll give you a full review ASAP. It’s the most surprising gourmand I’ve tried to date.” Here we are in 2025 and I never did that review so, having found a boxed sample, here goes.

Atelier Des Ors give these featured accords:
Top: Bergamot, Blackcurrant, Grapefruit
Heart: Violet, Clary Sage, Iris
Base: Patchouli, Vetiver, Musk

You’ll know some of perfumer Marie Salamagne’s work, she is prolific and has done many perfumes for YSL, Jo Malone and Atelier des Ors. I think my favourites of her oeuvre outside those are Penhaligon’s Constantinople and Mugler Aura. While I liked her Loubirouge for Christian Louboutin it was way out of my budget for something so “nice”.

So let’s celebrate that Aube Rubis has reached the grand old age of 10, a major feat in perfume years, with some sniffing. Ahhhhh! Super sweet, cotton candy! Like a blackcurrant version of Lolita Lempicka with a much darker underbelly. Sweet, nutty and a heart of deeply charred patchouli. So interesting.

Obviously aimed at a feminine audience but I’ve found myself LOVING Aube Rubis. It sparkles in that true 90s/21st century sizzling fruit-chouli style. So like my beloved Cacharel Liberté but grapefruit/blackcurrant instead of orange. The patchouli used is practically the same. This is a very elevated look at the classic though. A deeper, more sophisticated perfume all round.

Did you ever try Aube Rubis?
