Chanel Bleu L'Exclusif review by award-winning perfume critic Persolaise, 2025

Regular readers will know that I’m not what you’d call the world’s biggest fan of Bleu. I remain an admirer of Chanel. I believe they continue to give us interesting and worthwhile olfactory creations. I am filled with gratitude for the fact that they maintain the quality of No. 5, No. 19, Cuir De Russie, Bois Des Iles, No. 22 and many of the other gems in their collection. But from the moment I first encountered Bleu, I have not been able to muster any enthusiasm for it. However, I have been assured that I am about to change my mind about the Bleuniverse. The scent has now been released in what is being called a significantly altered incarnation — a flanker dubbed L’Exclusif. This will be the version, I’m told, that will make me reappraise the composition and appreciate what I’ve been missing. So it was with considerable interest that I released the contents of my sample into the air.
