Floris Purple Memoire review – Penny Ellis & Nicola Pozzani; 2025 –

–
For reasons that are probably related to various twists and turns of history, several perfume brands with British roots seem to have gone through extended periods of experiencing an identity crisis. Penhaligon’s is, of course, the first one that comes to mind. Even though it seems to be enjoying a relatively stable phase at the moment — perhaps the strategies employed by current owners, Puig, are finally yielding results — I’m not sure it’s quite worked out who or what it wants to be. But I guess as long as all those bottles of Halfeti keep being sold, nobody’s going to worry too much about anything else. A comparable brand is Floris, although I’d say its uncertainty about itself is more acute.
