Renowned as the country’s first professional woman wrestler, Hamida Banu’s fearlessness and achievements continue to inspire. Her wrestling prowess gained international acclaim during a match on this day in 1954, where she defeated renowned wrestler Baba Pahalwan in just 1 minute and 34 seconds. Following this remarkable victory, Baba Pahalwan retired from professional wrestling, solidifying Hamida Banu’s legacy in the sport.
