Delhi Capitals beat Rajasthan Royals in the super over to win the 32nd league match of IPL 2025 played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday (April 16). The hosts, after being invited to bat first by RR skipper Sanju Samson, posted a total of 188 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs and then restricted the Men in Pink for the same score as well. In the super over, RR could only manage to score 11 runs, which DC chased down in just four balls.

The win over RR was DC’s fifth win in six IPL matches played so far this season, and with 10 points, Axar Patel’s men sit at the No. 1 position in the points table, and on the other hand, after losing the fifth out of the seven matches played so far this year, RR have now dropped to the No. 8 position in the points table.

The defeat in Delhi was a bitter pill to swallow for the inaugural edition winners, and now they are in danger of missing out on a place in the playoffs.

For RR to finish in the top four and qualify for the playoffs, they now have to win at least six of the remaining seven seasons. In the past 17 seasons, teams have qualified for the playoffs with 14 points as well, but the 14-point mark never always guarantees a place in the top four. So for RR to be absolutely sure of qualifying for the playoffs, they have to win at least six matches.

RR’s upcoming matches

Rajasthan Royals will next face Lucknow Super Giants in their eighth league match of IPL 2025 on Saturday (April 19) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur and then take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the ninth match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on April 24.

RR’s 10th league match is against Gujarat Titans at Sawai Mansingh Stadium on April 28, and in the 11th one, the inaugural edition winners will face five-time champions Mumbai Indians at the same venue.

In their last three league stage matches, RR will face Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on May 4, Chennai Super Kings at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on May 12 and Punjab Kings at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on May 16.
