The Indian duo posted a 21-14, 22-20 win over Polina Buhrova and Yevheniia Kantemyr of Ukraine in the second round of the women’s doubles event on Wednesday.

Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand got the better of Polina Buhrova and Yevheniia Kantemyr in the second round of the Indonesia Open on Wednesday.

The Indian duo posted a 21-14, 22-20 win in a 32-minute encounter at the Istora Senayan Stadium to advance to the subsequent round of the women’s doubles event in the Indonesian Capital city.

The mixed doubles pair of Sathish Kumar Karunakaran and Aadya Variyath have advanced after overcoming a first-game defeat to secure a 15-21, 21-16, 21-17 victory in 45 minutes on Court 3.

In contrast, two other Indian mixed doubles pairs faced defeats. Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto pushed the second-seeded Malaysian pair, Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei, to three games but ultimately lost 11-21, 21-16, 14-21 in 59 minutes. Ashith Surya and Amrutha Pramuthesh succumbed 15-21, 9-21 to Denmark’s Mads Vestergaard and Christine Busch in a Round of 32 match. Additionally, Rohan Kapoor and Gadde Ruthvika Shivani were defeated by the Japanese duo Yuichi Shimogami and Sayaka Hobara 11-21, 9-21 in 33 minutes. Kiran George was eliminated by former World Champion Loh Kean Yew with scores of 20-22, 9-21.

India still has some hopes in the event as PV Sindhu is set to face fifth seed Pornpawee Chochuwong of Thailand in a Round of 16 match on Thursday. The top men’s doubles pair, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, will compete against Rasmus Kjaer and Frederik Sogaard of Denmark in a Round of 16 clash on the same day.

India’s participation in the men’s singles ended on Tuesday when Lakshya Sen and H.S. Prannoy were both eliminated in the first round.
