French niche line Pierre Guillaume has launched 27.1 Le Chant des Sirènes, the second in the series that started with 2016’s No. 27 Limanakia.

The second opus in theme 27 Mineral, “Le Chant des Sirènes” is a tender, balmy mineral, a complete departure from the mineral-animalic accord of Limanakia.

Symbolising the duality of human life, divided between organic and spiritual life, the Sirens are mythological beings born either from the curse of Hera or the wrath of Aphrodite. Traditionally considered to be terrible seductresses, their song is so bewitching that it leads the men who hear it to their doom. What better subject to reflect on than the concept of the “siren song”, as we return to the theme of 27 “Minerals”.

This new opus takes a new approach to the marine theme, with its silky, balmy notes, experimenting with a ‘tender marine or aquatic’ accord. The opening is aromatic and fruity, with rosewood leaves and the apple-citrus-pineapple notes of star fruit. A round, balmy heart dominated by almond wood and opopanax, evolving in trompe l’œil towards a woody-salty base of sandalwood and sea fennel. This fragrance is like a rising wave of plant life, like a song on the surface of the water. A fruity facet gently settles in, slightly herbaceous. Carried by the gentle bitterness of an almond wood accord, sea fennel, reminiscent of the sea spray of wild coasts, infuses the sandalwood. Under the tension of this plant salt, this usually milky wood rediscovers a verticality, a vibrant character tinged with a subtle animality.

Pierre Guillaume 27.1 Le Chant des Sirènes is available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum.
