When Worlds Collide | Perfume Posse

My beautiful Posse!  When Worlds Collide…you can (almost) always Blame Tom (at least I can, because he is my Little Petunia and I adore him and also, I’m usually right).    In this case… I… think(?) I’m right but if I try to go back and get stuck in the Perfume Rabbit Hole I’ll never get this post written – and it’s already past noon on Monday!

So.  Blame Tom it is!

Awhile back he (or someone like he) wrote a post …or he wrote a comment…and somehow Tesori d’Oriente came up and…. (insert shrug emoji)…I ended up checking it out on …fragrantica(?  – again… no rabbit hole!) and, for some reason, I decided to try the White Musk body creme.  There was a Not Posse post somewhere titled…(I think.  LawdJAYZUS! can you imagine me on a witness stand?)…… “The Cleanest Bathroom in the World” and… welp!  I just had to try it, never mind that I don’t even LIKE laundry-fresh scents!  So it arrived, in a dented metal jar*, which was an inauspicious beginning , but I figured (again, shrug)… took a shower, put some of the creme on and…

huh.

This is not the Absolute Worst thing I’ve ever tried! That is ‘faint praise’ but hear me out – it’s one of those aldehydic musk scents with a decidedly ‘fresh’ note  that I don’t really liiiike – but not that Dreaded Frog Fresh note (which I REALLY don’t like)  – more… it’s reminiscent of the original Clean scent from eons ago, which I absolutely loved (hey!  I was young!) until I realized it was giving me sinus headaches.  So, not quiiite as agressive as that (or White Linen which stomps right through Headache and shoves its stiletto straight into Migraine).  There’s also an ‘Aromatic Perfume’ (???) … but that ain’t gonna happen (I like it – but I don’t like it like that)…  I did get the shower cream which is great for a shower if you’re not wanting to commit to, say, the heft of an Amouage…and even better for shplotzing a dab into a bucket of water to wash the bathroom floor  (seriously)…

so… the ‘Worlds Collide’ title?  Whazzup with that, Musette?

Well!  You know when you want to wear a perfume but, left to its own devices, it might be a bit too aggressive for the situation (or your nerves)?  Mine is almost always No5, either the parfum or the edt (edp smells like a whole ‘nother scent altogether, imo)… if I go whole hog (gel/body oil or creme/scent) I can clear a room – and while that can be Davis/Crawford-level fabulous it’s sometimes not a great thing.  But I still wanna No5!  So.  Enter Tesori d’Oriente White Musk.  This (extremely) cheap and cheerful little shower gel and body creme has the ability to both support and slightly tame No5’s olfactory power!!!   Who’dathunkit!

And the gel makes a damb fine bathroom cleaner!  It really does make my gorgeous new bathroom smell like The Cleanest Bathroom in the World!  and that is NOT ‘faint praise’.

I love this stuff!

Yes – I will even wash the chandy with it!

Have you ever ‘tamed’ a beloved-but-strong scent with a cheap and cheerful body creme?  How did it go?
