Two Naxalites Carrying Collective Bounty Of Rs 13 Lakh Killed In Chhattisgarh Encounter

Security forces in Chhattisgarh gunned down two Naxalites with a bounty of Rs 13 lakh in total. Arms, including an AK-47 and explosives, were recovered, and a search operation is ongoing.

Two Naxalites, carrying a collective bounty of Rs 13 lakh, were killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar on Wednesday. The gunfight between the Naxals and the security forces had begun Tuesday evening.
According to the details, the encounter took place in a forest of Kilam-Bargum villages along the border of Kondagaon and Narayanpur districts, when a joint team of security personnel was out on an anti-Naxalite operation.
The killed Naxalites were identified as Haldar, a dreaded Maoist commander and member of the east Bastar division of Maoists, and Rame, an area committee member.
Haldar and Rame carried rewards of Rs 8 lakh and Rs 5 lakh, respectively, on their heads.
Arms and ammunition, including an AK-47 rifle, other weapons and explosives were recovered from the spot.
A search operation was underway in the area.
Personnel belonging to the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Bastar Fighters, both units of the state police, from Kondagaon were involved in the operation, Inspector General of Police, Bastar Range, Sundarraj P told news agency PTI.
